Sunny Garcia continues to fight for his life despite complications that have arisen since he was hospitalized April 29, when he reportedly attempted suicide. After spending months in a Portland, Oregon hospital, he’s been moved, according to an Instagram account started by his family, @prayforsunny. Garcia will also undergo a procedure this morning.

“I wanted to ask everyone to please pray for my dad @sunnygarcia as he goes into a VATS surgery for his lungs tomorrow morning,” wrote his daughter Kaila. “As I explained in my last post, sometimes people get sicker when they are in the hospital for an extended amount of time. My dad got pneumonia in the hospital, and there have been a lot of complications so he needs this surgery to clear it up. Thankfully, we were able to move him to a new hospital in California that is really taking care of him.”

Updates have been spread out, understandably so as the family deals with the crisis. The 2000 world champ has been hospitalized for over two months now. Garcia had an unsuccessful surgery five weeks ago to insert a PEG, but he has also been breathing on his own, moving his hands and yawning, according to Kaila’s updates. Kaila said she started the new page, @prayforsunny “to remove strangers from my personal page because of some of the crude & inappropriate comments made about my family.”

There was no word on where Garcia was being hospitalized in California.
