Portugal has been on fire. To clarify: The waves have been really good lately, it’s not literally on fire. First, there was the Big Wave Challenge at Nazaré. Then, we saw some heat in Ericeira, during a firing session at Coxos.
Now, things have gone up one or three more notches at Supertubos. Located in Peniche, the spot has often been referred to as the ‘Portuguese Pipeline,’ for its long, fast, hollow barrels. On a solid west swell, it’s a sight to behold.
Thanks to the latest video from YouTube channel Global Zoo, we did in fact get to behold that sight. “Supertubos has been cooking recently,” wrote Global Zoo in the caption, “with lots of big clean days and tubes everywhere you look.”
This bodes well for the MEO Rip Curl Pro Portugal, the WSL event set to take place at the at the beginning of March. Until then, pull up a seat, grab your bacalhau and sardines, and enjoy the show.
