Make Or Break, the Apple TV+ surfing docuseries, has been canceled. The series followed the world’s top surfers as they competed on the World Surf League Championship Tour. Season one was shot during the 2021 CT season and season two the following year. There will be no season three.
Make Or Break was produced by Box to Box films, the company behind the wildly successful Netflix docuseries Formula 1: Drive to Survive. Among the show’s producers were former WSL CEO Erik Logan and WSL Studios chief Ryan Holcomb.
“Make or Break‘s on hold. Obviously, it’s been a great show for us,” Miley-Dyer told TVLine. “It’s been really valuable. But the most important thing we’ve had are the relationships through Make or Break, and we still have that exclusive relationship with Box to Box [Films], the production company.”
Unsurprisingly, this will be far from the end of the WSL’s involvement in television. All this year’s CT competitions, along with the U.S. Open of Surfing, are streaming on ESPN+, and ESPN2 is carrying the docuseries WSL: Inside Pro Surfing. Meanwhile, Miley-Dyer told TVLine that the WSL has other content in development for the future.
