It’s only the first day of the waiting period, but it looks like the Tahiti Pro is already likely to run. According to a post to the WSL Instagram, conditions are looking primed for an all-time swell, and there’s no time to waste.

“This forecast is looking crazy,” wrote the WSL in the caption. “The Lexus USA Tahiti Pro will likely start August 7, day 1 of the event window, with the potential for Teahupo’o to deliver some massive tubes.”

The prediction came courtesy of Surfline, who wrote, “We’ll just say Thursday’s swell is in the ballpark of last year’s finals day and will likely be a touch larger. Swell is a little more south for peak direction on Thursday but has a wide spread. We’ll be glued to the webcast for sure.”

The official first call won’t be until 7:00 a.m., local time, but it’s looking like a safe bet we’ll see some action.
