This time of year is typically Chopes’ time to shine. Cloudbreak certainly just took the South Pacific spotlight without hesitation while Teahupo’o has pretty much sat in its shadow since. Nobody’s really been chirping about the latest max out day in Tahiti, which is usually what we do every southern hemi winter, isn’t it?
All this is to say we’re creeping up on July and should probably brace ourselves for Teahupo’o to be the belle of the ball again, the queen bee, the toast of the town. So this is far from Chopes at its meanest. But we can’t really argue it’s not near perfection either.
