The Inertia

It’s been one heavy winter in Hawaii for the Reef team. Mick Fanning lost a brother and still competed, taking out Kelly Slater and John John Florence in perhaps the best heat ever witnessed at Pipe; Evan Geiselman nearly died after suffering a horrific wipeout; Billy Kemper won the first-ever Pe’ahi Challenge in macking Jaws; and Luke Davis hit 10o,000 followers on Instagram. While some of these events may be reasons to celebrate more than others, there’s one fact that holds true in all cases: team Reef has been surfing beautiful well around Hawaii this year. Both the injuries and victories speak to their fervent passion for surfing and the unyielding desire to push the limits in the name of progression. Keep in mind that winter is not even close to being over. We’re looking forward to seeing what the future holds for these mad men.
