Nathan Oldfield makes some of the prettiest films in surfing. He’s the man responsible for such gems as The Heart & The Sea and Gathering, both of which are far more than your average surf porn.
The Church of the Open Sky is his latest gift to the surf viewer, and by the looks of the trailer, it’s going to be a good one. Featuring Dave Rastovich, Lauren Lindsey Hill, Tom Wegener, Belinda Baggs, CJ Nelson, Alex Knost, Johnny Abegg, Neal Purchase Jr, Jasson Salisbury, Devon Howard, and more, The Church of the Open Sky is a film about lives that revolve around surfing. “It is a sea-soaked celebration of the exquisite preciousness of being alive,” reads the description.
Shot in Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and Sri Lanka, Nathan Oldfield’s upcoming masterpiece is set to premiere in Byron Bay next month.
