The Inertia

Across the globe, there are plenty of places to get tubed. Pointbreaks, slabs, beachbreaks. Take your pick. But if you want consistency in barreling waves (aside from Mr. Slater’s Frankenstein creation), your best bet is to look to the south of France. As a Frenchman himself, Marc Lacomare is no stranger to the heaving tubes of Hossegor and Biarritz, studying all the sandbars, and perfecting his under-the-lip “O-face.” The above clip proves that. And the soundtrack – a dark and sultry rendering of Gil Scott-Heron’s 1970 poem “The Vulture” – adds an eerie modernism to Marc’s smooth surfing. Looks like the Pacific isn’t the only place scoring perfect waves right now!
