People don’t often go to see a car race to see who wins. They might pretend they’re interested–and maybe some of them even are a little bit–but most of them are more interested in the wrecks. It’s why you crane your head at a car crash, and why hit-to-pass is a thing. It’s why surf/snowboard/skate videos have bail clips. It’s why those fail videos are so popular. People love watching destruction. And when you put a jetski in front of some very, very large waves, it’s inevitable that sometimes, things are going to go wrong.
