Morgan Maassen is a very good photographer. He’s got an eye. And his editing style is distinct. We’d recognize a MM photo from two computers away. Lucky for us, Morgan’s also dabbled in the film world. How could he not.
And while traveling the globe with Kelly Slater shooting with Quiksilver, he compiled quite a stock of imagery and footage. The edit above never saw the light of day because ‘ol Kelly decided to go his own way. The champ had an itch to start his own brand.
In the wake of that decision, surfaces this clip of Kelly Slater on Morgan’s VIMEO with the following words: “A short lifestyle commercial I worked on with Kelly Slater last year in Tahiti and Hawaii, that was to be released April 2014,” wrote Maasen. “Alas, not everything went as planned. This is my less product-oriented, more lifestyle based edit. I hope you enjoy it!

Hopefully, it’s not and there’s a little vault somewhere that will continue to drop little Kelly edits into eternity.
