The Inertia

There’s probably nothing worse than sitting behind a desk and seeing a dark, ominous, purple blob tear through the Indian Ocean and knowing you’ll have nothing to do with it. It’s a shitty feeling, we know. But rather than being a bitter bug and having “nothing to do with it,” why not sing the praises of those who are not only getting to see this wonderful swell, but are getting tubed off their greedy little heads. One lad who perfectly fits this criteria is none other than Morocco’s Jerome Sahyoun.

It’s safe to say Jerome is sitting super sweet at the moment after this barrel, as he rightfully sits as the guy who pocketed one of the most beautiful barrels from one of the tastiest swells of the year. The other guy is Nate Behl, who also snagged an absolute bomb at Kandui. But unlike Nate, Jerome takes the “Biggest Claim Award.” However, this is one of the few times it’s warranted. Magicseaweed.com spoke to the man, and here’s what he had to say:

The waves were so solid and the last section so shallow that the most of the surfers got cut up. I took a closeout to get a good shot with Bastien [Bonnarme] which served me a big gash on my knee and cuts all over my leg. My knee swelled up, but my hard work obliged me to get back in the water,” he laughs. “The waves were so solid and the last section so shallow that the most of the surfers got cut up. It’s been a dream to get this wave that big and perfect. It’s difficult to say if it was the best waves of my life but for sure this was one of my three best sessions in Indo.
