Yuri Soledade is pretty used to wipeouts. You don’t get to his level of surfing without taking a lot of waves on the head. In surfing, the term “you have to pay to play” applies more than most sports, and Soledade has definitely paid.
Back in early December, during the Peahi Challenge at Jaws, Yuri aimed himself down the face of a beast. The wind grabbed his board and flipped him off like a feather. Now it’s been entered into the TAG Heuer Wipeout of the Year category of the 2016 WSL Big Wave Awards.
