In June, the folks at Deus Ex Machina premiered one of the raddest surf films in recent years – South to Sian. It’s an adventure story through the picturesque landscapes of Indonesia, starring Harrison Roach and Zye Norris. The pair get some amazing waves riding an array of craft, from traditional longboards to fishes to thrusters, and also log some time on dirtbikes on the side of a volcano that looks like it belongs on Mars. From the cinematography to the variety of surfing, by all accounts Deus made a great film – the kind that leaves you wanting more. And as it happens, there will be more in the form of a follow-up film called Sian Sessions (Check out the trailer above).
With more than 300 hours of footage captured for South to Sian, there was plenty of footage to produce a second world class film. According to the Vimeo description, Sian Sessions will feature, “an epic lineup of previously unseen waves handpicked by Harrison Roach, from West Nusa Tengarra to Lagundri Bay covering 4,000km.”
