Everyone loves a comeback story. In sports or in Hollywood, people love to hear about someone who was in their prime, lost it all and then found their way back. Ricky Basnett is one of the many comeback stories of the surfing world. As a former world tour surfer, the South African had a promising career. But then something happened – he became disillusioned by the sport and turned to the bottle.
After eight years of heavy boozing, Ricky’s back and he’s looking in fine form. His latest project is a short film called “No Regrets” with director and fellow South African Jason Hearn. And judging by the trailer, Ricky’s returned to the sport in full force as he’s seen laying down huge airs, throwing buckets of spray and charging some heavy tubes. Glad to have ya back, Ricky!
