With such a strong longboarding community in Sumner, Christchurch, Ambrose Mcneill took it upon himself to create an event that would capture the imagination of the single fin culture in New Zealand. The turnout was much more than we anticipated, in both surfers and people who simply wanted to socialize. As for competition, 46 surfers battled it out in near-perfect conditions with style and grace. There were smiles all round and a beer or two at the local watering hole afterward. It was a perfect way to top off a perfect weekend.
