We’ve been admirers of Waikiki’s Arthur “Toots” Anchinges for a minute now. While the public eye has been squarely focused on Southern California – from Malibu to Blackies, Doheny to Cardiff – to get a sense of where longboarding is headed, the next generation of Waikiki beach boys are silently doing their thing on Oahu’s south shore.
Among them, Toots’ subdued, meditative approach to longboarding harkens back to an era where style was everything and pays homage to those who ruled the reefs of Waikiki long before him.
