The Inertia

For the past week, Southern California has been lit up by one of the best runs of surf we’ve seen in a long time. The problem? Every time I sat down to edit, another swell arrived. Over the course of seven days, I filmed Huntington Beach, Lower Trestles, the Wedge, Malibu, Manhattan Beach Pier, and Doheny — chasing waves up and down the coast while trying (and failing) to keep up with the footage.

From massive Wedge explosions and world-class rides at Lower Trestles, to crowded Malibu lineups and surprisingly fun waves at Manhattan Beach and Doheny, this swell delivered something different everywhere it showed up. This video is a look at the swell so far. I’ll create more detailed edits from each location soon, along with coverage from the days that followed. As long as the surf keeps showing up, I’ll keep filming. Enjoy!
