Back in August, Teahupoo ran into some serious swell. It just so happened to coincide with the Billabong Pro Tahiti, which was a good thing for contest lovers/competitors. While event organizers watched the purple blob marching across their forecasts towards Tahiti, some of the world’s best had some warming up to do. Matt Wilkinson, “Micro” Hall, Ace Buchan, Michel Bourez, John John Florence, Mitch Coleborn, Fred Patacchia, Josh Kerr, Jordy Smith and the Hobgood brothers snagged some bombing Chopes in a free surf to end all free surfs.
