2016 is still fresh enough for all of us that you’re probably still having to stop yourself from dating things “2015.” Time flies. Before we know it, we’ll be talking about how quick this year flew by, too. This is one of the many gifts we get from surfing: an act that forces you to acknowledge one moment, and nothing else, before it’s time to be ready for the next.
This is one of those videos that reminds us of all these things. A New Year’s Day surf in the North West of Ireland, where the water is undoubtedly ice cream headache cold, but these surfers are gifted with waves that couldn’t bring a better start to 2016. But aside from the surf, the words to accompany it all give us the perfect context for appreciating all these things.
“Time is a very difficult thing to pin down. I know what it is, but when you ask me, I don’t.”
So like we said, time flies. Time also drags. Time is money. Time is one thing we can never get back. It’s pretty damn valuable. And this looks like it was a good investment for some starting a new year.
