Waves this popular come at a price. Sure, you’ll spend a good chunk of time here fighting off hordes of other surfers for a single wave. And yes, when you finally do get one, odds are you won’t enjoy the entire thing to yourself. And while we’re at it, let’s not forget all the weaving in and out and around the minefield of boards loaded with people, paddling inside of you.
Now that we’ve made the place sound completely uninviting, there’s potentially no place you’re going to find a better wave in all of the Golden State. It might be worth all the hassle. It will definitely be worth the weeks-long flat spells of summer.
Watching these nine minutes of absolutely pumping surf is hypnotizing. Line after line. Wave after wave. And it can serve as a reminder to all Californians…winter is near.
