If there was ever a video that outwardly makes you reconsider or perhaps better appreciate your own life, this is it. First, Irish surfer Peter Conroy a fireman, in Dublin, where firemen double as paramedics — so, basically, he’s a real-life superhero. His wages, well, they’re taxed 65%. With most going to bills and a mortgage, he’s left €50. That money goes into repairing his ski, and occasionally, occasionally replacing boards. But big wave surfing is his pleasure, and he works hard for his pleasure. And Mullaghmore Head is break. Yep, that gnarly slab of charged destruction is what he calls home. He lives for it. At 5:05 mark, you see why.

Surfers like him should remind us all why we paddle out.
