Along with many other people, I have a fascination with the Wedge. Looking down the beach on a big swell and you will see what looks like hundreds, if not thousands of long white or black expensive lenses and thousands of spectators. The energy and character of the place is pretty intoxicating. But just like Yosemite, how does one photographer find a shot that hasn’t already been taken a million times? Recently, the number of photographers in the water has skyrocketed, making it even more difficult to get an original shot or one without a bunch of heads and GoPros on sticks. But the struggle to capture an original angle or image is what makes this so much fun. I will never be an Aaron, Brent or Zak but I can still strive for something different, and on occasion even an average Jon can score a good shot.
