The Inertia

It’s always been called the “Dream Tour” because it’s filled with the world’s dreamiest waves, but Conner Coffin’s version is called, “Fat Boy Surf Camp Portugal.”

If you think about it, it’s actually an approach to surf travel that’s equally as important as wave quality but somehow never held in the same regard: How’s the food? We trot all over the globe hoping for barrels, we may get shacked and we may not, but no matter the conditions on offer at a given destination, we will be consuming the local cuisine. In practical terms, it’s actually just as important a factor as our wave count when it’s all said and done.

When Coffin landed in France to start this year’s European leg of the World Tour schedule, his accompanied vlog was half-surf, half-food. Barrels in the morning then bringing viewers along to his favorite, almost cliché European dining stops. Apparently the guy really likes food because that’s exactly what he’s focused on during the Meo Rip Curl Pro in Peniche. And on par with this proposed theory, one could argue the food looks better than the waves in Portugal here.

So, Conner, we have a question. Are you bidding for a post-CT career as one of those fat and happy travel show hosts obsessed with food?
