If you do nothing else, scroll straight to the 5:44 mark. Hit pause. Stare at your smartphone or laptop screen in amazement, acknowledging that holy crap there’s a lot of space between the lip of that wave and Zeke Lau. And although he didn’t land it, it’s still pretty staggering just how high he gets. Indeed, the Hawaiian CTer is capable of some impressive punts, which he displays here alongside Seth Moniz and Betet Merta.
Filmed at Bali’s standards — Uluwatu and Keramas — there’s actually quite a bit of impressive surfing in this edit. Moniz is piecing together a respectable rookie season on tour, currently sitting just outside the top 10. Lau, nearly halfway through his third season, is finding his way. And they call Betet “Da Guy” around Bali for a reason. All three catch more waves during these nine minutes in Bali than most of us will in an entire season.
