The Inertia

Timmy Reyes, much like anyone else in their right mind, really likes getting barreled. He does it a lot more than most people. Far more, in fact. And he does it because he’s basically dedicated his whole life to finding places with barreling surf. Boards, of course, are an important part of that search, and Timmy’s recently been surfing a little number called the Helium Hydroshort. Shaped by Tomo for Firewire, it’s a board that was inspired by the Hydronaut, Tomo’s step-up for the average Joe.

The Hydroshort is made for small to medium-sized waves — which, unfortunately, is mostly what most people surf the most. The Hydroshort’s torpedo nose creates a lower swing weight, which, according to Firewire translates to a feeling of instant response. A continuous medium rocker and a quad inside single concave make it an extremely fast surfboard, as evidenced by Timmy’s mach speed in the short clip above.
