Surf trips can get weird sometimes. Especially so if you’re in a foreign place with too much beer and a bunch of guys who are already kind of weird–which surfers frequently are. Weird in a good way. Normal is boring, after all.
So when Noa Deane, Mitch Coleborn, and Ozzie Wright met up with videographers Mikey Mallalieu and Nate Leal, along with photographer Tom Carey, the going got weird. In the beginning, it was supposed to be a tour around Australia. After the forecast went pear-shaped, however, the crew booked a few last minute flights. “The forecast and weather turned grim, to say the least,” wrote Tom Carey for Volcom. “So, in the Sydney airport, we lined up last minute flights, accommodations, and transfers for all of us to one of Indo’s mysto, less-frequented islands. The swell forecast was better than what Australia had in mind for us, and sometimes you just need to get surfers out of their comfort zone and on the road.”
