The Inertia

The ASP‘s Roxy Pro France kicked off in good conditions yesterday, and the women fought their way through three rounds of the event. While there were a few standouts – Stephanie Gilmore (of course) and Courtney Conlogue (also of course), Santa Barbara’s Lakey Peterson had one wave that showed exactly where her head’s at. After a round one loss against Bianca Buitendag and Nikki Van Dijk, Lakey was relegated to round two, where she faced off against Paige Hareb. After a few minimal scores, Lakey found a wave that suited her down to the ground. With twenty-one minutes left in the heat, she put a solid nail in Hareb’s coffin that would stay in place for the rest of the heat. The judges awarded her a 9.33, and Peterson showed just what she’s capable of.
