The Inertia

Back in 2013, an eternity ago in today’s culture that scrolls through popular culture like fingers on an Instagram treadmill, Margot Robbie burst on the scene as the Naomi Lapaglia (aka the Duchess of Bay Ridge) to Leonardo DiCaprio’s Jordan Belfort in The Wolf of Wall Street. Previously, Robbie’s professional career was virtually unknown outside of Australia, but the role catapulted her to stardom overnight.

Five years later, she’s starred in numerous blockbusters and has now signed on with Nissan Europe as the company’s “Electric Vehicle and Sustainability Ambassador.” Part of her role, apparently, includes being paid to surf for the video above – in other words, Robbie, while not the best in the world, is a pro surfer.

The campaign seeks to shed light on the need to shift toward living more sustainably, presumably by buying a Nissan Leaf.

“I hope I can play a small role in inspiring people across the globe to explore alternative forms of energy and make the switch to drive a better future for everyone,” said Robbie. “The point is, we can all make a difference and we don’t need to wait for others to do it for us.”
