Whenever Jaws fires up, Shane Dorian makes an appearance. The guy does everything he can to never miss a swell at Maui’s most famous big wave… and he’s almost always the standout. January has been good to Maui so far, and it’s looking promising for the coming weeks, as well. Thanks to a massive El Nino event, big wave spots are blowing up, and perhaps none as spectacularly as Jaws.
This particular wave was back on January 15th. Aldo Tassara happened to be behind the camera, and now it’s been entered into the Billabong Ride of the Year category of the 2016 WSL Big Wave Awards.
