Humans have always thought that they are living in significant times. That this moment in time is somehow more substantial and consequential than any other moment in history. Perhaps it’s human nature to think that way. Perhaps it’s something else. But from a surfer’s perspective, maybe we are experiencing a turning point in history. We’re currently braving the strongest El Niño in recorded history, records are being broken pretty much every other week, surfers are enduring near-death wipeouts, the waves have been consistently massive, and the Pacific is currently bracing for what is predicted to be the biggest swell of the winter. Could this be the one that gives the Eddie a green light? We sure hope it is. While the world anxiously waits for the that dark, ominous blob to make landfall, let us revisit some of the heaviest rides from this winter on the North Shore (so far).
