Writer/Surfer

The concept was simple: 1 wave on a traditional single fin 9+ foot log. Best wave takes top prize, a thousand bucks and an invite to the next Duct Tape Invitational. Just tag #1WV1FN.

The contest was launched via Instagram by a company called Innocnts. And after two months of some of the world’s best longboarders submitting their best waves to be scrutinized by the judging panel, last Friday Innocnts announced the winner: Johnny Pitzer from Maui.

“Waking up to the smell of champagne in my hair today and reality is just starting to kick in,” said Johnny in an Instagram post.”Thank you so much to everyone for your positive vibes and Aloha, I can’t explain how much it means to feel the immense support out there from you all. This is definitely my biggest surfing accomplishment to date, my main goal for longboarding is to surf in the Vans Duct Tape Contest and now that is going to be a reality!”

Waking up to the smell of Champagne in my hair today and reality is just starting to kick in. @cascoeric and @zaniac1 put on the most amazing surprise announcement for me that @bboymaui and I ended up with the win for the first ever @innocnts #1wv1fn video competition. @woodisaac your Steve Seabold @gordonandsmith model is amazing, thank you for handing me down a few amazing boards over the years! Congratulations to all the other competitors, you’re all winners in my eyes. I honestly thought I had no chance of winning with all of the amazing video entries, loved watching all you stylemasters from around the world. I still am going thru a bit of shock and zinging from my friends and family that made last night so very special. Thank you so much to everyone for your positive vibes and Aloha, I can’t explain how much it means to feel the immense support out there from you all. This is definitely my biggest surfing accomplishment to date, my main goal for longboarding is to surf in the Vans Duct Tape Contest and now that is going to be a reality! I can’t believe this is real!! Especially want to thank @innocnts and @sean_tully for helping create this opportunity, Innocnts made a killer awards video to check out at innocnts.com/1wv1fn. Thank you so much to @bboymaui, I honestly could of never done this without you donating your time to film. There’s so many of you to thank as well, I hope you all know who you are and I appreciate the sincere Aloha! Mahalo for the video from last night @paddlehawaii
