Kitesurfing, as many of us know, can be dangerous. Kitemares, as they’re called in the game, are anytime the wind has its way with a kitesurfer, sending him or her careening out of control. This usually happens with extreme gusts of wind. But Spanish kitesurfer Carlos Aldaravi had a dream run this week when he pulled a minute-long aerial in Tarifa, Spain, often called the country’s “wind capital.”

“It was amazing,” Aldaravi told The Inertia “I did my first jump like this three years ago. I’ve done around 10 jumps like this since but never a minute like this time…Normally 25-35 seconds. I live in Tenerife right now and I saw the forecast for Tarifa with 50-60 knots and I took an airplane for the weekend. I’m always searching for this kind of air.”

Aldaravi is getting some serious play in the mainstream Spanish media. As he should. That was gnarly, no matter how you look at it.
