The Inertia

With one of the best names on tour since Neco Padaratz, Brazilian-born Wiggolly Dantas was sure to perk up some ears during his rookie WSL season. It also didn’t hurt that his surfing was equally as head-turning and mind-boggling as his unique nom de guerre. He had an extremely strong showing in both big barrels and high performance waves, hinting at a solid career to come.

And like any professional surfer, Wiggolly set his sights on Hawaii at the end of the year. Despite a less-than-stellar showing in the Pipe Masters, the ASP rookie put in his time on the North Shore with hopes of learning the ways. And judging by the clip above (Don’t mind the semi-obnoxious German rap), which compiles his free-surf antics in Hawaii, he’s getting the hang of the place. With bucket-throwing hacks and fearless charging like this, it’s safe to say that Wiggolly will be a solid threat at the end of his second year on Tour. And how bout that cameo from his high-flying brother, Wesley? The family’s got some good genes.
