It’s really easy to look at professional surfing and see it as the most exciting thing in the world. And of course, for the surfers, it might be. But for everyone behind the scenes, it’s just work. Great work, but work nonetheless. 180 Days on Tour is ten minutes of nothing–but like Seinfeld, it’s ten minutes of a very entertaining nothing. Filmed, edited, and directed by Brent Miller and Shannon Waller, two members of the WSL Tour production crew, the entire thing is comprised of iPhone and GoPro clips.
Shannon Waller and Brent Miller spend most of their lives following the tour around the planet. If you’re watching a surf contest (and not actually there) chances are good that they’ve had some hand in what you’re watching. But you don’t see is what happens the rest of the time–when the waves aren’t firing and the internet is crapping out and the rain is pouring out of the sky. And you what? It’s surprisingly interesting.
