Kelly Slater is so good at Pipe and Backdoor that even with the slightest crack in the door, he can see some light!
As a friend, I want him to win. As a spectator, it would be awesome to see him win. Unfortunately, there is no real rivalry between athletes going into this event. The rivalry is between the event itself and Kelly Slater.
It’s a said long shot, and having to win the event to win the World Title must be some crazy stat against Kelly Slater. Funny thing is that if he wins the event and the World Title, I don’t think people would be surprised. He’s somewhat known for pulling off the almost impossible. Which to me is the coolest note here: a guy who is so good at what he does, he can turn a slight crack in the door into a wide open space.
Can’t wait to watch the boys get after it!
