A week before competing in the Ballito Pro in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, Brazilian ‘QS surfer Lucas Silveira set off to get familiar with J Bay’s long rights. Under the critical eye of trainer Leandro Dora, Lucas used his week of prep time to improve his surfing. And as you can see, he scored the right hander about as good as one possibly could hope to.
“I love surfing in JBay,” Lucas said of the trip. “I’ve been to South Africa other times and on this trip, I got one swell at about 12 feet. I was with my Indonesian quiver from 5’10” to 6’2″. Despite this controversy over sharks, this does not scare me and I will not stop surfing there.”
Watching the guy shred one of the world’s most iconic places like this, can you really blame him for being spiteful to a few great whites?
