The Volcom Pipe Pro is done and dusted, and Wiggolly Dantas is the man who walked away victorious. The event took place over three days of picture-perfect Pipeline.
Dantas, like most surfers, has a bit of a love-affair with Pipeline. All the way back in 2014, he took second place to Kelly Slater, and he’s had his eye on the prize ever since. The final was nearly an all Brazilian affair, with Dantas coming up against Joao Chianca, Yago Dora, Hawaiian, Seth Moniz.
“I feel amazing, I feel tired at the same time, but I feel amazing,” said Dantas to the WSL. “That’s my goal for many years, to win an event at Pipeline. This wave for me is a special wave in my life and it’s such a pleasure to be here and compete with the boys and get good barrels and get good turns and win an event here. It’s my goal for many years and I’m super stoked to start the year.”
