The World Surf League announced its 2025 Longboard Tour schedule Thursday. The new four-event slate for 2025 is mostly identical to the 2024 itinerary with one slight change — next year’s tour will begin in Huntington Beach at the 2025 US Open of Surfing before moving on to Bells Beach, Australia in September, rather than the other way around.
The Longboard Tour will then head to Surf Abu Dhabi in October, similar to this year’s schedule, and then the series finishes off in El Salvador to crown a world champion. In effect, the first three stops — Huntington Beach, Bells Beach, and Abu Dhabi — are qualifiers to determine the top eight men and top eight women in each respective field. Those qualifying surfers will then head to El Salvador in November for a winner-take-all event. The format is similar to the WSL Finals introduced to the league’s Championship Tour back in 2021.
The 2025 tour will feature 24 men and 24 women, each qualifying through WSL Regional Series events. The 2024 Regional Series schedule featured 14 events, however, the 2025 Regional Series schedule hasn’t been released.
“Following an incredible season, we’re thrilled to announce another four event schedule for the 2025 Longboard Tour,” said Will Hayden-Smith, WSL Senior Longboard Tour Manager. “We can’t wait to return to these great locations for even more unforgettable performances from our surfers.”
