The waves are knee-high at First Point Noosa on Australia’s Sunshine Coast. Not ideal for the newly-imagined WSL Longboard Tour, but there’s plenty to be excited about if you tune in to the live stream now. New faces – including the likes of Jared Mell and Kai Takayama – Justin Quintal and Harrison Roach are also on deck. Single fin logs aplenty and calf leashes and 2+1 performance longboards are uncharacteristically in the minority.
When we caught up with Devon Howard, the newly-minted Longboard Tour Director, last week there was an air of excitement in his voice. “I think it’s really cool the WSL is making an investment in longboarding,” he said.
Now, the first event of the year is on, and while the surf ain’t pumping, we implore you to tune in and watch some of the best loggers in the biz clock some tip time.
