If someone asked you to drive from London to Mongolia in a 1300cc car, would you do it? All four of us jumped at the opportunity, quitting jobs and dropping out of school to participate in the adventure of a lifetime. We knew it would be tough and the planning process wouldn’t be a walk in the park. But we put our heads together, came up with a few ideas, raised a lot of money and managed to score ourselves a lot of wicked sponsors for the journey. We picked up a car in London and set off on the open road with no clue what was ahead of us. We sped through The Netherlands, Germany, Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria in a whirl wind of 7 days before the real fun began in Turkey.
We drove the world’s most scenic road (Romania), the world’s most dangerous road (Turkey) and the world’s second highest highway (Tajikistan). We went through 20 countries, broke 4 rear springs, bought 40 cent per litre petrol and 50 cent beers, laughed with locals, ate weird food, slept in yurts, rode camels, rode horses, and rode donkeys. We drove 17,051km, we raised $3,456 for charity, experienced the world’s 3rd most media suppressed country and paid too many corrupt police bribes. All within a hectic 51 days.
