The Inertia

“This is the dumbest idea I have ever heard… and I’m definitely in.” – Karl Thompson

Exploring the limits of a weekend warrior by packing the adventure of a lifetime into a weekend — Orizaba, which at 18,491 feet is the third highest peak in North America. And according to this weekend warrior, an ill-advised trip that Karl Thompson would most definitely not recommend.

Joey Shusler and his favorite nine-to-fiver, the aforementioned Karl Thompson, headed down to Mexico to summit then ski Orizaba. All in 55 hours from arrival to departure. That meant no stopping cervezas (until the top) and two hours of sleeping/acclimating at the lodge/base camp. Needless to say, the effects showed.
