The Inertia

The deep sea is endlessly interesting. It’s often said that we know more about the surface of the moon than we do about the deep sea. Since we’re an inherently curious species, we can’t help but to look at as much as we can down there.

Unfortunately, there’s a lot down there that is almost impossible to look at. Fortunately, we’ve developed a few gadgets that help us take the tiniest of looks under the rug. The video you see above is an example of that.

Shot using deep-sea robots from the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI), the footage is in 4K and dazzlingly clear. It shows a wide array of different animals, some of which you might only have heard of. You can get their proper scientific names and order of appearance, here.
