A word of advice if you ever happen to come across an African elephant mom: don’t mess with the calf. It’s likely how a very unlucky crocodile at Kruger National Park found itself on the angry end of one, a place that no one wants to be.

African elephants are the largest land mammals in the world. They weigh up to 13,000 pounds, live around 70 years, and can reach lengths of up to 24 feet and heights of up to 13. They are big animals. Very big. They don’t however, eat meat, so they generally aren’t killing machines.

Mess with the bull, as they say, and you’ll get the horns. Quick warning: don’t click the following links if you don’t like seeing sad things. Elephants have been observed running up to a buffalo, stabbing it, and then calmly walking away and trying to stab one of the world’s cutest animals, a baby hippo. Yes, elephants can be serious jerks. And while it’s generally hard to side with a crocodile over an elephant, the video above makes you feel pretty bad for the reptile.
