The Inertia

Last summer, I had the opportunity to go to a speedflying meeting at Les Deux Alpes, a ski resort in France. It’s a good place for decent flights with cheap accommodations. The meeting was organized by Dob Durden for the third year in a row. More than 50 pilots answered Durden’s call and came from Norway, Italy, Scotland, Germany, Austria, the U.S., Russia, Bulgaria, France, and Spain.

Speedflying was born from three different cultures: paragliding, BASE jumping and skydiving. Here, we’re playing with proximity speedflying, an activity that falls somewhere between paragliding and wingsuit flying.

The goal of this meeting was not to compete but first to share passions and the pleasure flying together, and second to share some great moments of life during a week of fun.

I made Colors in the Sky, a short film, as a testimonial of the atmosphere and the flights from this awesome week with skilled and safe pilots (including a lot of sessions filled with never-ending laughter). We’ll all be back.
