Johnny Utah is perhaps surfing’s most famous wave sliding quarterback. The only catch is Utah’s pigskin tossing days ended long before he brought it all to the beach. Not Chase Garber, however. The 6-3, 205 lb. quarterback from Corona Del Mar High School is making use of the Hermosa Pier before his college send off, exactly 1.75 miles south and within clear vision of the same Manhattan Beach pier Utah patrolled, suited and booted with a neon board in hand.

No, Garber isn’t going to throw a football from the Hermosa Pier to the Manhattan Pier . If he could do that he’d be headed to a much better football program than Cal.
He is, however, getting in on the trick shot madness a little like a certain college phenom before him. And hey, at least he’s showing off the accuracy.
