The Inertia

It makes so much sense. The highest point in Africa is Uhuru Peak, 5,895 meters to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro. The craziest people in the world (at least in the context of climbing to inexplicable heights then jumping off from said heights) are Russians. Those two things coming together was less a matter of if and more a matter of when.

Valery Rozoy — one of those crazy Russians we were talking about who likes climbing and subsequently jumping off really, really tall things — made the first ever BASE jump from Mount Kilimanjaro, spending more than a minute in freefall while reaching speeds over 180 kilometers per hour and traveling a distance of 3.1 kilometers, all before touching down at Barranco Camp below. Then he was greeted by the sort of beauty most people only dream about.

But Rozoy is not most people.
