The Inertia

The future of the Australian leg of the 2018 Championship Tour was touch and go for a minute there. Rumors swirled earlier this year that the fan favorite event at Margaret River was going to be cut from the schedule for next year. Namely because, well, Australia plays host to three events per year, more than any other country. And if the WSL were looking to cut the fat somewhere, the Gold Coast and Bells events have too much history. But, Margaret River is reportedly a go for the next two years at least, and really if you’re watching all the events online anyway, all three Australian stops consistently deliver what fans really want – to see the world’s best in quality waves.

Looking toward the European leg of the tour, you may have been sleeping on Australia lately (unless, of course, you live there). For those of us who aren’t so lucky, here’s a little reminder. Jordy, Jay Davies, John John, Josh Kerr, Mick Fanning, and more lighting up Bells and the Box. It may be the best case for keeping an Australia-heavy tour we’ve seen yet.
