Forty-one days before the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, Alex Ferreira fell hard at Mammoth. “I’ve never felt so good in my life, I’m on an absolute roll, podium-ing at every single competition,” says Alex. “And then in one fell swoop, literally one second, and my whole season, my whole world flips upside down on itself.” Worries of a broken foot, torn ligaments, and worse were running through Alex’s head until an MRI showed that his body was bruised and battered, but whole.
From there, the work began. In the video above, Alex takes us behind the scenes of his recovery with just over a month to go until competition, and it’s a testament to the amount of work that Olympians put in to reach the top of their game. It’s also a testament to the mental game that underscores the work that those pushing their sports to the limits put in.
