Today would be a good day to thank your belayer. Actually, go ahead and hug him or her and never let go. This is a shocking near-death reminder that climbing is a truly immersive pursuit in which a moment’s lapse in judgement/execution could potentially lead to an irreversible mistake.
This rock climber is lucky to be alive — he is lucky that he was not free soloing/bouldering and that his belayer held like he did. And his reaction to that luck speaks/screams volumes.
