The whole scene comes off a little too much like Dudebro is just trying to show off for his giggly friends and a couple of cute girls on board.
“Bro, make sure you send me that video for my Insta. Did you already Snapchat it? Hashtag whoa brah! Wait, what’s this gooey stuff that rubbed off on my hand? Eww don’t wipe that on me.”
I’m completely open to the idea that I’m being a little too sensitive here and that this is harmless, but my gut instinct when watching this video is that it’s just a bunch of kids goofing off with no respect for what should be a damn powerful moment. People dive with whale sharks often and many opt to take a ride on the backs of the world’s largest fish because we know they’re not aggressive. I could just do without all the cackling.
